Native Chicagoan and street photographer of more than 20 years, Lori Swerdlow has several of her riveting images featured in the Grand Hall of The Old Post Office.
Living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and all of its challenges, Swerdlow says “scooting and shooting” photos became a beautiful avenue of inspiration and mobility. “My captures are of everything I see, do or become part of. People, nature, architecture or its demise, movement, stillness and any or everything else I encounter.”
She adds, “In 2009, I was fortunate to spend time in “Old Main” making pictures. It’d been vacant for 13 years prior to then and was clearly a once-in-my-lifetime experience!” Her images are infused with energy, humor, and as she describes it, a life force vital to all of us.

Street photography is my passion. Roll with me and meet the people and experience the places unique to the neighborhoods of Chicago.
Come with me on the Trail — a favorite year-round with walkers, bikers, and joggers — it connects many of the city’s lakefront parks, beaches, museums, neighborhoods, and colorful, diverse people.
Selected images from my installation at Chicago's Old Main Post Office Concierge Wall.
